| It was a sunny Saturday morning. We had a small group of 10
ready to try their hand at putting out fires. We had 3 Model T’s, a Model
A, and one modern car. We left Rancho with a short and direct tour over to
the Menlo Park fire station on Middlefield road. There with met up with
Carol Parker (Some will remember her from the CPR class)
who was just setting up our class area. While she set up for the class,
most of the group took the chance to look over one of the fire engines
parked in the lot with the cab up and engine exposed. The class started
with a quick run over on how to use a fire extinguisher, and what types
work on the different kinds of fires. After the short class, Carol opened
up one of the old sheds that stored some of the fire stations history.
After a short look inside the shed, most of the group headed over to
Jeffrey’s Hamburgers for lunch. After a good meal, we parted ways.
I hope fun was had by all, and thanks again to Carol for putting on the class, and donating the fire extinguishers we used. Mark Edwards. |
