This was the Gunn High School/Tech Tour on March 8, 2008.
The weather was so beautiful when most of us arrived at Rancho,
there seemed to be little doubt that this was going to be a great
day.
Positive attitude in hand, we made the short jaunt to Gunn
High School Auto Tech Class where Mike and Nadine Camicia and
Bob and Pat Meneely had carefully prepared for our arrival.
Thanks to a great idea by Gary Bausch, first year Auto Tech students
were there to learn about tech inspections. Students were assigned
to our own tech inspectors, and the groups carefully pored over
car after car, while the rest of us chatted, wandered through
the Auto Tech facilities or munched on the thoughtfully provided
snacks.
After about an hour and a half of detecting missing cotter
pins, missing safety wire, loose bolts, etc (did anyone pass
with flying colors? I know we didn't), we found room for the
students in our cars and headed off for another wonderful green
rolling hills tour, passing lots of wildflowers, immense homes,
and meandering horse trails. You realize you're around serious
money when you see a discarded Bentley, abandoned in someone's
field .
Our tour found its way to Bob and Pat Meneely's house, where
we dined on chili, salad, and sandwiches we had brought. Dessert
was the ever-popular ice cream. Chatter and laughter flowed
freely, as usual.
No doubt at all- a great day. Special thanks to Mike and
Nadine Camicia, and Bob and Pat Meneely for their hard work and
careful preparations.
