The California Dreamin' Tour was a Model T regional tour hosted by the Orange County Model T Club. The tour hub was Buellton, California and occurred from April 22 to April 27.
Day 1 was the longest tour of about 130 miles round trip to Pismo Beach. Individual photos of our cars were taken at the beach. Some of us also got stuck in the sand and needed help from fellow Model Ter's to get us going again. We stopped at the Rock and Roll Diner (a converted dining car) for lunch.
Day 2 was a shorter drive to Los
Olivos and the picturesque stop at the Matteis Tavern. This tavern
dating back to 1886 was a comfort stop for passengers
traveling from railroad to and from the stagecoaches. Many photos
were taken here by us and passing tourists. We continued
to Los Alamos and a stop at the Depot Antique Mall. After lunch
(most dined at Charlie's for their super hamburgers)
there were photo ops at the Union Hotel and old
mansions. The day concluded with a Tri-Tip BBQ with all
the fixings.
Day 3 was a free day which ended with
the visit to the fantastic collection at Mendenhall's
Museum of Gasoline Pumps and Petroliana.
Day 4 was a round trip drive of about
74 miles to Jalama Beach County Park. The day
started out rainy but everyone enjoyed the view and walk
on the beach and the famous hamburger lunch provided.
Participating from the Santa Clara Valley Model T
Ford Club were Bill and Pat Bratt, Ed and Karen Archer, Bob and Pat
Meneely, Bob Edwards, Allan and Lucy Greenberg, Peder and Alberta
Jorgensen, Ray and Linda Fontaine, Ernie and Lucy Roeder, Mark Edwards,
Joe and Christine Kirley. Allan Greenberg |
